Memories

I brought Cindy around Chicago's Navy Pier last August. While we were just sitting around and quietly enjoying the somewhat cool and windy lakefront breeze, I snapped this picture hoping to capture both of us. This was the result. I think the mood speaks for itself.

At the end of a weekend trip to University of Michigan, our group of friends met up at Espresso Royale Cafe. While I was sitting by a window seat enjoying my coffee, I photographed Nick intent in his Law School studies. Although the cafe was actually bustling with people and filled with sounds of espresso machines and conversation, this photo captured a quiet moment in time that displayed Nick's mental solitude and focus.

Out of all my photos, I think I love this one the most. Not only do I think Maggie is beautiful to look at, but this moment just speaks volumes. The context of the original photo isn't what it seems, as she was actually sitting with a small group of people. However, as a cropped photo, the posture and lighting suggests a more melancholic and reflective mood. And then it makes me wonder, "will she look my way?"

Yuling is one of the coolest people in the world. I've always adored her individuality and independence. This was taken at an outdoor cafe near Montmartre, when she was studying in Paris for a semester. I loved this picture for the intensity of the sunlight, the cup of coffee in motion, and the waiter captured in action.

This picture is posed, but I can't remember if it was one of the first or last pictures I took. I had taken Carol to the Marin County side lookout of the Golden Gate Bridge, and it was so windy that I kept taking photo after photo of her, hoping to get it "just right." I didn't think any of them would actually be decent... until I discovered this one. The fog is simply mystical, yet not quite as gentle as one would believe.
